Have you been thinking about investing in a shredder chipper for use in your yard or business? Are you not sure whether you should be looking at electric or petrol equipment?

Electric
The main advantage of an electric shredder chipper is that it is much more environmentally friendly than a petrol model. These days, many people are becoming more conscious of their effect on the environment, so an electric model is a much better choice for reducing your carbon footprint. An electric chipper is also very quiet when running, meaning that you can use it at almost any time of the day or night without disturbing your neighbours.

The main disadvantage of an electric shredder chipper is that they are hindered by the fact that they have a power cord and need constant access to a power outlet. Not only does this pose the problem of accidentally cutting the cord or tripping over it, it limits the areas in which you can use the equipment. The engines in electric shredders are also much smaller and not suited to heavy-duty work.

Petrol
The main advantage of a petrol shredder chipper is that it has a much more powerful engine than its electric counterparts. This allows the equipment to be used in a range of industrial and heavy-duty applications outside of the home. If you will be using your chipper on a regular basis, petrol is definitely the better option. There is also much more variety in equipment and engine size when it comes to petrol shredders, meaning you will always find the perfect type.

The main disadvantage of a petrol shredder chipper is that the current price of fuel can make them more expensive than electric models to run. This also poses the problem of running out of fuel halfway through your gardening project, which can be more than a little inconvenient. Petrol shredders are also highly noisy when turned on, making them suitable for use only during times when power tools are able to be used.

Both electric and petrol shredder chippers have their advantages and disadvantages, and the one that will best suit your needs will all depend on what you need it for.
